Good ideas deserve a go.

Good ideas can come from anyone. You do not need a lab or a technical background to notice a problem worth solving. Your experience of everyday life can be the start of something useful.

Skunkfly is a small crew with a habit of asking “what if?” and making something to find out. Some ideas arrive in a conversation. Others have been waiting years for the right tools.

We call a passing idea a cloud butterfly. Our job is to turn a promising one into something people can use, then learn from what happens.

A purpose worth building for

Our aim is to build useful things for people left out, left behind and the working poor, and make those ideas sustainable as businesses. We believe a business can earn its keep and make a difference. That purpose shapes the problems we choose and the way we work.

Make something. Learn something.

We start small. AI tools help us research and build. People make the decisions and take responsibility for following through. When something works, we improve it. When it does not, we change direction or stop.

Curiosity gets an idea started. Following through gives it a chance to help.

Our first collection puts a few of the crew's ideas and sayings into everyday wear. “Wild ideas. Useful things.” “Excellence is the enemy of good.” A reminder that making a start matters, and that an unusual idea can be worth your time.
